چکیده

Conflict-based diagnosis is a recently proposed method for model-based diagnosis, inspired by consistency-based diagnosis, that incorporates a measure of data conflict, called the diagnostic conflict measure, to rank diagnoses. The probabilistic information that is required to compute the diagnostic conflict measure is represented by means of a Bayesian network. The general diagnostic engine is a classical implementation of consistency-based diagnosis and incorporates a way to rank diagnoses using probabilistic information. Although conflict-based and consistency-based diagnosis are related, the way the general diagnostic engine handles probabilistic information to rank diagnoses is different from the method used in conflict-based diagnosis. In this paper, both methods are compared to each other.

Possible conflicts, ARRs, and conflicts

Consistency-based diagnosis is the most widely used approach to model-based diagnosis within the Artificial Intelligence community. It is usually carried out through an iterative cycle of behavior prediction, conflict detection, and candidate generation and refinement. Many approaches to consistency-based diagnosis have relied on some kind of on-line dependency-recording mechanism for conflict ...

Aspects of Efficient Focusing

This paper refers to a diagnostic engine based on de Kleer’s GDE. It discusses two aspects of efficient focusing: First, an ATMS is presented that combines focusing techniques with the lazy label evaluation. Second, a candidate generator is presented that prunes the search space using a preference ordering and the knowledge about the last conflict that ruled out a diagnosis. The preferred candi...

Conflict-Driven Diagnosis using Relational Aggregations

Conflict-driven problem solvers such as GDE use previously discovered conflicts to guide further search through the candidate space. To do so, ATMS-based problem solvers employ an inference engine that performs two fundamentally different tasks: Checking a given assumption set for consistency and predicting values for system variables under given assumptions. In this paper, we show how separati...

Operationalization of Interpretation Models for Model-Based Diagnosis

Interpretation models are generic models of problem solving, describing abstractly data types and inference steps of the problem solving process that process these data. They are a frequently used instrument to specify knowledge level models. This report surveys interpretation models for model-based (consistency-based) diagnostic systems that are based on the General Diagnostic Engine (GDE) par...

"Physical Negation" Integrating Fault Models into the General Diagnostic Engine

1 Abstract The General Diagnostic Engine (GDE) provides an elegant and general framework for model-based diagnosis. However, like many other diagnostic systems, GDE's device models capture only the correct, or intended, behavior of its components. It is lacking an important part of diagnostic reasoning: knowledge about how components may behave when they are faulty. This fact can limit the perf...
